- •450 g ground beef
- •1 yellow onion, finely chopped
- •4 garlic cloves, minced
- •398 ml tomato sauce
- •1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- •1 tbsp ketchup
- •1 tsp brown sugar
- •1/2 tsp salt
- •1/2 tsp black pepper
- •1/2 tsp paprika
- •8 slices thick bread or Texas toast
- •4 tbsp butter, softened
- •8 slices cheddar or American cheese

Instructions
- 1Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
- 2Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- 3Stir in tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- 4Simmer the mixture for about 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 5Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- 6Place one slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of a bread slice and add a scoop of the sloppy joe mixture.
- 7Add another slice of cheese on top and close the sandwich with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
- 8Cook the sandwich in a skillet over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- 9Slice and serve immediately while hot and gooey.
